At its Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event, Samsung has announced two new mid-range phones – the Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A52. The latter is available in two versions – 4G and 5G – while the former is available only as a 4G phone. The Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A52 are the first A-series devices to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
The Samsung Galaxy A52, as mentioned above, comes in two versions – 4G and 5G. Both of them are more or less similar to one another, except for a few changes under the skin. Both get a 6.5-inch flat full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display with a punch-hole cutout at the top, housing a 32MP selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Where the 4G version of the Galaxy A52 gets a 90Hz display, the 5G version gets a 120Hz refresh rate for the same display. Moreover, while the former is powered by the Snapdragon 720G chipset, the latter gets the Snapdragon 750G. In their respective top-spec variants, they both get 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable internal storage.
At the back of the phone is a quad-camera setup, comprising a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. Further, the phone runs on Android 11-based Samsung's One UI 3.1 skin, features a 4,500mAh battery, and comes with a 15W USB-C charger in the box.
Samsung has not yet revealed the prices for the Galaxy A52 in the Indian market, but the phone, according to previous leaks, is expected to be available in just the 4G version in India and in three colours – awesome violet, awesome blue, awesome black, and awesome white. The leaked prices are mentioned below:
Galaxy A52 4G (6GB + 128GB): ₹26,499
Galaxy A52 4G (8GB + 128GB): ₹27,999
The Galaxy A72 is bigger and has better cameras than the Galaxy A52. It is available with just 4G connectivity and comes powered by the same Snapdragon 720G chipset as the Galaxy A52 4G.
The Samsung Galaxy A72 packs a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the bigger footprint, it also gets a bulkier 5,000mAh battery.
And while the Galaxy A72 gets the same 32MP selfie shooter as its lesser sibling, it gets a slightly better rear-camera setup, comprising a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The prices for the Samsung Galaxy A72 in the Indian market have not yet been revealed by the manufacturer; however, the phone, which will be available in the same colours as Galaxy A52, will reportedly retail at the prices mentioned below, according to the same leak.
Galaxy A72 4G (8GB + 128GB): ₹34,499
Galaxy A72 4G (8GB + 256GB): ₹37,999
