Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Buds+: Price, specs and everything expected at the ‘Unpacked’ event

Samsung will be holding its annual ‘Unpacked’ event  in San Francisco, California where it will be launching the next generation of Galaxy S Series smartphones, Galaxy Z Flip, and the Galaxy Buds+ true wireless earphones. While the S Series of smartphones will be called the Galaxy S20, the Galaxy Z Flip is the company’s second foldable offering, and the Galaxy Buds+ will reportedly have Spotify integration and a dedicated Game Mode.

‘Unpacked’ event timing and where to watch

As mentioned, the ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2020’ event will take place in San Francisco, California, at 11 a.m. local time on February 11. In India, users will be able to watch the live stream starting at 12:30 a.m. on February 12 through the company’s official social media channels. Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra

Reports have suggested that the company will launch three variants in the Galaxy S20 Series. The Galaxy S20 is expected to be the most affordable of the three. It is expected to sport a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, and Samsung's own Exynos 990 flagship chipset. The phone is said to come with 128GB onboard storage and house a 4000mAh battery. The Galaxy S20+ is likely to feature a 6.7-inch display, the same Exynos 990 SoC at its heart and a triple rear camera set-up.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra will be the ultra-premium offering with a massive 6.9-inch display. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by the Exynos flagship chip with 512GB onboard storage. Reports suggest that this variant may ship with a whopping 16GB of RAM. The phone may have a 5,000 mAh battery, and 108MP primary camera. There are reports that Samsung may also launch a 5G variant for mature markets.

As far as the price is concerned, the Galaxy S20 Ultra may be priced at $1549 (approx Rs 1.10 lakh), the 5G variant is said to start at $1349 (approx Rs 96,000). Meanwhile, Amazon listing from UAE suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S20 will start AED 3,199 (approx Rs 62,000), the Galaxy S20+ will cost AED 3,599 (approx Rs 70,000), and the 5G variant of the plus model may be purchased for AED 3,799 (approx Rs 73,900). The devices may launch in Cosmic Grey and Cosmic Black colours.

Galaxy Z Flip specs and price

 

 

Along with the Galaxy S Series, the South Korean giant is expected to unveil its second foldable smartphone called the Galaxy Z Flip. The advertisement for the phone ran during the recently-concluded Academy Awards event. The Galaxy Z Flip sports a clamshell design like the Moto Razr. Reportedly, the phone will get a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen, 256GB of onboard storage and 3500mAh battery. The advertisement during The Oscars suggests that the phone will be available in Black and Purple colours. It may be priced $1,295 (approx Rs 92,000) making it a cheaper option than the Moto Razr.

Galaxy Buds+

The third hardware that we may see at the launch is an updated version of the Galaxy Buds true wireless earphones. Rumoured to be called the Galaxy Buds+, the hearables may ahve Spotify integration and a dedicated Game Mode. They may come with a 85mAh battery with over 7.5 hours of talk time or 11 hours of music playback. The device is likely to have active noise cancellation (ANC) technology and may rival Apple AirPods Pro.
