At the ‘Unpacked’ event in San Francisco, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip alongside the Galaxy S Series of smartphones. The Z Flip is not only the South Korean giant’s second foldable phone, it is also the second handset with clamshell design. It competes with the likes of Motorola Moto Razr 2019 that was unveiled in the US in November last year. Although there are doubts that these phones will cross borders and ship to India, here we will compare the price and features of both of these devices.

Price

The Motorola Razr 2019 is priced at $1499 (approx Rs 1,07,000) and to purchase the Galaxy Z Flip, customers have to shell out $1,380 (approx Rs 98,500). So Samsung has an edge when it comes to the pricing of the foldable phone.

Design

So Motorola Moto Razr will make you feel nostalgic with its design. There is a curved chin and the phone has been redesigned to match the latest standards. There is a 2.7-inch secondary screen with 600 x 800 pixels resolution, called Quick View display. It works when the phone is in the folded state, and users can take selfies, view notifications and control music through it. The Motorola Moto Razr features a 6.2-inch flexible OLED display with a 2142 x 876 pixels resolution.

In the case of the Galaxy Z Flip, there is a 1-inch OLED micro-display and it can be used to see notifications and caller’s ID. It has a glass built which is fingerprint prone. There is a camera dual camera on the outside and a single snapper on the inside. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED Infinity Flex Display with the company’s proprietary bendable ultra-thin glass (UTG). The display offers a 21.9:9 aspect ratio.

Processor, RAM and storage

While Motorola Moto Razr is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, the Galaxy Z Flip uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The Moto Razr is equipped with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB non-expandable storage. The Galaxy Z Flip, however, comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage which cannot be expanded.

Camera

When it comes to the camera, the Razr captures images using a 16MP camera with a f/1.7 aperture lens. There is a dedicated Night Vision mode to click photos in low-light conditions. For selfies, the smartphone comes with a 5MP camera. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has a dual-lens camera setup with a 12MP main lens and a 12MP wide angle shooter. There is a 10MP snapper which works when the phone is in an unfolded state.

Battery

The Razr comes equipped with a 2510mAh battery, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has a 3300mAh battery.
