Upcoming Vivo smartphones to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G mobile platform

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo will be one of the first companies to carry the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G mobile platform in its upcoming smartphones. The 865G was announced earlier this month.

Almost a week after chip maker Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 865 5G and 765/765G 5G mobile platforms, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo announced that upcoming Vivo phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 5G chipsets.

Qualcomm in its official release announced that Vivo will be one of the first company to equip Snapdragon 865 5G mobile platform for its upcoming phones.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 clubbed with X55 5G modem-RF system supports peak 5G speeds of up to 7.5 Gbps. The platform could also support camera resolution of up to 200MP camera and up to 8K video recording at 30 frames per second.

Vivo also emerged as the top brand in 10k-15k price point in the third quarter of 2019. According to Germany-based market research institute GFK, Vivo recorded its highest ever market share of 22.5 per cent in terms of value and 21.4 per cent in terms of volume in September of 2019.

The company recently launched the U20 smartphone in India in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant at Rs 17,990. Vivo U20 was initially launching in 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variants.

The U20 comes in racing black and blaze blue colours. The smartphone is also made in India and is manufactured at the company’s Greater Noida facility.

The Vivo U20 features a 6.53 inch full-HD+ Halo fullview display offering a 90.3 per cent screen-to-body-ratio. The smartphone is fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 equipped with 4th Generation Kryo CPU and 6th Generation Adreno GPU. The phone comes with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.
