New Xbox Series X, Series S All-digital Edition Announced at Games Showcase 2024

Microsoft is launching an Xbox X model that is entirely digital and does not have a disc drive for the first time. Users can experience the speed and performance of the Xbox X at more affordable price....

Microsoft began its yearly Xbox Games Showcase event by revealing the all-digital Xbox Series X and S consoles, along with trailers for over a dozen games, including the upcoming "Call of Duty". The tech giant has unveiled three gaming consoles, comprising a disc-less version of the Xbox Series X and S consoles, as well as a special edition Series X with 2 terabytes of storage. According to the company, the consoles will be released during the holiday season.

Details regarding the pre-orders and regional pricing will be out in the coming months. Microsoft has also mentioned that more accessory options are in the works, such as console wraps that work with all Xbox Series X devices and controller designs for upcoming games. Xbox S series comprises all-digital, discless devices that come in 512 MB Robot White or 1TB Carbon Black variants. The Series X can be had in a 1TB Carbon Black version with a disc drive. Moreover, the 1TB Carbon Black Xbox S will be available till supplies last. Here's an overview of the three new consoles introduced to the lineup.

Xbox Series S 1TB: Robot White

The same capabilities and slim form factor announced in 2023 with the 1TB Carbon Black variant will now be available in Robot White, giving gaming enthusiasts twice the storage space with a larger capacity SSD. The device will offer Quick Resume, quick load times, and gameplay at up to 120 frames per second. It sports a compact layout with no disc drive. Upon launch, the model is expected to be priced at USD 350 (around Rs 29,222). 

Xbox Series X 1TB: Digital Edition

Microsoft is launching an Xbox X model that is entirely digital and does not have a disc drive for the first time. Users can experience the speed and performance of the Xbox X at more affordable prices with this option. Notably, the console supports video games at 4K resolutions. The company has hinted that the 1TB Digital Edition will be available in limited markets, with an estimated price of USD 450 (about Rs 37,573).

Xbox Series X 2TB: Galaxy Black Special Edition

The leading tech company has added a 2TB SSD to the top-tier model, giving users plenty of more storage. The design has been completely updated and now has a celestial effect in shades of silver, grey, and green. The exclusive Xbox Wireless Controller for the limited edition device features a Galaxy Black D-pad and a Velocity Green rear case. With an expected price of USD 600 (approximately Rs 50,093), the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black special edition will be offered in select locations and limited quantities.

Xbox and Microsoft are entering an important stage with the latest edition of the Games Showcase, as the gaming industry is experiencing a slowdown and developers are dealing with lower sales, layoffs, and studio closures.
